What information will I need for my consultation?
You'll need the following details about your horse:
-
Basic Information: Name, age, breed, and gender
-
Workload: Activity level and training intensity
-
Living Environment: 24/7 turnout, stabling, or a mix
-
Current Diet: Pasture, hay, feed, and supplements (with exact weights)
-
Body Measurements & Condition: Instructions for assessment will be provided
Will I need anything/equipment?
You'll need the following tools:
-
Feed & Supplement Scale – A kitchen scale that measures in grams, ounces, and pounds
-
Hay Scale – A fish or luggage scale for weighing hay
-
Weigh Tape or Fabric Tape – At least 60" long for calculating body weight
Do I need to have a current hay analysis?
No. While a current hay analysis can be very useful, it is not always practical or necessary, especially if you change hay sources frequently.
Will you consider feeds/supplements that are readily available to me?
Absolutely. While the first priority is to formulate a well balanced diet, the second priority is to meet the client where they are at and what is readily available to them.
Would you be willing to create a diet that does not contain any commercial feeds?
Of course. We are always willing to work with a client's personal preferences when possible.
